Short answer: RTX 5060 Ti 16GB and RTX 5070 Ti 16GB have the same nominal memory capacity and therefore broadly similar model-fit ceilings. Choose between them with measured performance, sustained power, cooling, partner-card design and total price—not the assumption that the higher-tier card fits larger models. RTX 5070 Ti has a wider, higher-bandwidth memory subsystem and more CUDA cores, but those specifications do not supply an application-independent token-rate multiplier.
Check fit before speed: enter the exact artifact, context and concurrency in the LLM VRAM calculator. If the complete allocation exceeds 16GB, neither card solves the capacity problem without a smaller artifact, shorter context, offload or explicit multi-device placement.
RTX 5060 Ti 16GB vs RTX 5070 Ti 16GB specifications
| Official reference specification | RTX 5060 Ti 16GB | RTX 5070 Ti 16GB |

| Reference required system power | 600W | 750W |
| NVLink | No | No |
| Card dimensions | Varies by manufacturer | Varies by manufacturer |
Model fit is essentially a tie
Both cards expose one 16GB device-local pool. The RTX 5070 Ti’s higher published bandwidth and core count may affect measured speed, but they do not turn 16GB into a larger allocation. A workload that needs 17GB still does not fit wholly on either card.
- 7B-class: the official Qwen2.5-7B GGUF example ranges from 3.02GB Q2_K through approximately 8.10GB Q8_0. Both cards can leave substantial nominal room after the exact cache and runtime are checked.
- 14B-class: the official Qwen2.5-14B example displays Q4_K_M at 8.99GB, Q5_K_M at 10.5GB and Q6_K at 12.1GB. These can be practical 16GB candidates; the 15.7GB Q8_0 artifact leaves no safe working margin.
- 32B-class: the official Qwen2.5-32B example displays Q2_K at 12.3GB, Q3_K_M at 15.9GB and Q4_K_M at 19.9GB. Sixteen gigabytes remains a constrained low-bit or offload tier on either card.

What the wider RTX 5070 Ti subsystem may change
NVIDIA publishes twice the memory-interface width and twice the memory bandwidth for RTX 5070 Ti, alongside 8,960 versus 4,608 CUDA cores. Those are meaningful hardware differences, but local-AI results still depend on precision, kernels, runtime, context, batch/concurrency, clocks, thermals, CPU interaction and whether the workload is compute-, memory- or transfer-limited.
Do not apply the 2× bandwidth ratio directly to tokens per second. Benchmark both cards with the same model file, runtime version, prompt, context, output length and power configuration. Record prompt-processing rate, generation rate, time to first token, resident memory, errors, temperature, noise and wall power.
Software support is largely the same generation
Both cards are Blackwell devices with CUDA capability 12.0, so the same basic compatibility question applies. Verify the installed driver, framework build, inference runtime, attention and quantization kernels, compiled extensions and frontend. A working Ada build does not by itself prove Blackwell support.
The equal compute capability reduces one comparison variable, but it does not guarantee identical behavior. Different GPU resources, partner firmware, clocks, power limits and thermals can still change results.
Power and system integration differ sharply
NVIDIA lists 180W total graphics power and a 600W reference system requirement for RTX 5060 Ti, versus 300W and 750W for RTX 5070 Ti. That 120W board-power difference is not the same as energy used per generated token. A faster completion can offset higher instantaneous power, so measure the complete workload at the wall.
| Check | RTX 5060 Ti 16GB | RTX 5070 Ti 16GB |
|---|---|---|
| PSU and connector | Verify one PCIe 8-pin or supported Gen 5 cable path | Verify two PCIe 8-pin through the adapter or supported Gen 5 cable path |
| Cooling | Lower reference board-power envelope | Higher sustained heat load requires more cooling margin |
| Physical fit | Dimensions vary by partner | Dimensions vary by partner |
| Noise and efficiency | Measure under the intended workload | Measure under the same workload and completion target |
When RTX 5060 Ti 16GB is the stronger path
- The workload fits comfortably within 16GB and its measured speed is sufficient.
- The lower reference power envelope better suits the PSU, case or room.
- The complete offer has a better price, warranty or return policy.
- The saved budget is more valuable in RAM, storage, CPU, cooling or a future higher-capacity GPU.
When RTX 5070 Ti 16GB is the stronger path
- The same reproducible workload shows a material performance advantage.
- The system can support the higher board power, PSU requirement and cooling load.
- Time-to-result matters enough to justify the complete price and energy tradeoff.
- The exact partner card has acceptable dimensions, acoustics, warranty and return terms.
A decision checklist
- Verify the RTX 5060 Ti listing is the 16GB variant, not 8GB.
- Calculate complete workload memory and preserve headroom.
- Verify capability 12.0 support through the entire stack.
- Compare the exact partner cards, not only GPU family names.
- Check PSU, connector, dimensions, airflow and sustained thermals.
- Run the same long-context workload on both candidates where possible.
- Compare total price, wall energy, completion time and return protection separately.
